According to the Center for Information & Study on Clinical Research Participation, there are approximately 50,000 clinical trials taking place in the United States. However, a full 80% are delayed at least one month because of unfulfilled enrollment. Use the resources below to access detailed information about clinical trials and find out more about participating in a trial.

A Patient Reference Guide for Adults with a Serious or Life-Threatening Illness — This report from the non-profit ECRI organization provides in-depth information for people considering participation in a clinical trial. The guide covers a range of topics, including informed consent, patient confidentiality and issues in ethical research.

- The Center for Information & Study on Clinical Research Participation — This non-profit organization offers information and resources including clinical trial statistics and a guide for participating in a clinical trial. The Web site also provides a search tool for clinical trial listings, study results, and news.
- ClinicalTrials.gov — This Web site, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a U.S. government agency, provides timely information about clinical trials, as well as a search tool that allows patients to find trials by disease, location, treatment, and sponsor.
- MedLine Plus — This government Web site provides searchable information on more than 740 disease states compiled from the National Library of Medicine, other departments within the NIH, and other government agencies and health-related organizations as well as links to clinical trials and more.
- National Cancer Institute — This U.S. government agency offers detailed information for cancer patients interested in participating in a clinical trial, as well as links to resources such as National Institutes of Health (NIH) publications, recent news, and clinical trials databases.
